COMPETITION CANCELLED DUE TO HEAVY RAIN AND DETERIORATING WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE NEXT FEW DAYS...
I did capture some STUNNING youngsters and a few images around the soggy grounds.... take a look through the images - they really handled the heavy arena with style!...
The organisers were visibly upset as they spoke with the press this afternoon.
All the 6YO competitors had finished their dressage this morning, and about half of the 7YO's this afternoon - competitors who were on their beautiful 7YO's after the decision was made, rode their dressage tests anyway.
The many riders who are travelling on to Pau 4* next week will stay on site here overnight as they await word from the Organising Committee at Pau to hear when they will be able to arrive - these include NZL & AUS riders: Mark Todd; Caroline Powell; Jonelle Richards; Bill Levett... and many international riders...
It is so incredibly dissappointing, however the safety of the horses and riders come first.
The sales auctions will still go ahead tonight and on Saturday evening.
The site and the exhibitors’ Village will be opened and free on Saturday.
"We are as disappointed and sorry as you can be for this tough but unavoidable decision".
Rendez-vous next year for the 2013 Mondial from 17th to 20th October.
