Horses Inside Out 2013 Conference, Assessment and Asymmetry in the UK
Horses Inside Out is an organisation which gives a fascinating insight into equine locomotion, training and management from an anatomical perspective and their Annual Conference brings together world leading speakers in the field of research into assessment and asymmetry.
Yogi Breisener, World Class Performance Manager and Chef d'Equipe to the British Eventing team, Caroline Moore FBHS, past 4* competitor and the British Eventing National U18 Coach and Haydn Price, consultant farrier to the BEF and Team Farrier to the British Dressage and Show Jumping Teams, are just three of the speakers at the 2013 conference.
We’ll bring you more about the conference in the lead-up but here are some videos about Horses Inside Out and the unique way that Gillian Higgins demonstrates the horse’s musculo-skeletal system using live painted horse demonstrations (and what a great horse Freddie Fox is - an eventer too!)
Using this system Gillian shows how to understand and care for the musculo-skeletal system, allowing riders and carers to ride, train and manage their horses efficiently and effectively. Keeping this system in optimum condition and appreciating how it functions leads to a supple, comfortable horse able to maximise his range of movement and perform at his best. With a rider in a skeleton body suit, it is also possible to see clearly the interaction between horse and rider.
The video by Animals at Work is a series on CBBC which features animals and the jobs they do. In this episode originally aired in 2010, Freddie (who is quiet because he’s a gelding apparently!), Gillian and David explain why it's important to know how your horse moves and show how they achieve the painted look
