"A three star win is a three star win" says Emma Scott
“This is my first three star win with Mustang,” laughed Emma Scott after winning the Combined Training at Wallaby Hill. “I’ve come close to winning CCI and CIC three stars but Shane (Rose) has always managed to beat me! But on a serious note Mustang feels in great shape and I’m looking forward to riding him this year. I love coming to Wallaby Hill and to win a class makes it even better.”
Determined by name and determined in style - that was the story for Cassandra Webb as she rode Dutch Determination to a win in the Gow Gates Insurance CNC2* at Wallaby Hill. With Tim Boland breathing down Cassie’s neck on his two 2* rides going into cross country, she rode a foot perfect round (as did Tim) and finished on a score of 59.1, just 0.3 ahead of Tim riding Mercator Du Ry. Tim has taken over the ride on Mercator Du Ry from his girlfriend Sophie Adams who is in Germany for a few months at Gilbert Bockman’s yard.

Tim added to his 2* ribbons when he collected two winners rugs – Lord Limmerick won the Macarthur Urology CNC* and Nevada Ned won the Gibralter Hotel EvA95 (A). “I’ve had some good rides and some shockers this weekend,” said Tim, “but on the whole it's nice to be going home with two wins.”
Ewan Kellett is always happy to be at Wallaby Hill
Course Designer at Wallaby Hill, Ewan Kellett, was pretty happy with how the day had gone. “We had a few problems in the pre novice and 1* class which we maybe didn’t expect but it was more of a case of things going wrong at various fences rather than any one fence causing a problem. The lower levels seemed to go quite well, although there are always a few stops on the early part of the course, where horses are still travelling away from ‘home’. Once they got going and actually were really out on the course it all jumped well. I really consider it a privilege to come to such a lovely venue like Wallaby Hill. The team here are great to work with and it’s lovely to have the time and manpower to do the job properly.”
Stuart Tinney won ‘The Animal Company’ EvA105 riding the Huskinson family’s eye catching grey War Hawk finishing on his dressage score while Andrew Barnett was hot on his heels less than a mark behind riding WHF Montpellier.

The smile couldn’t be wiped off Brett Parbery’s face as he picked up his winners rug in the Prestige Auto Traders EvA95. After a dressage score of 21.1 and looking pretty confident in his showjumping round it was going to be hard for anyone to catch up to that score and Brett finished on 34.3 with Peter Gillis just under three marks behind riding Des.

Brett wasn’t the only eventing first-timer on the weekend to score a win as another dressage rider, David Shoobridge, won his class (Main Event Photography EvA80B) riding the stallion Smash Hit. Like Brett, David looked very happy with his efforts and we hope that this ‘jump’ over to eventing won't be short lived for either of them.

The other first timer was Ryan Haste who, at age 14, was not only riding in his first event but also riding his horse, Chief Bearhawk, in it’s first competition. “We only got him in November,” said Ryan “but I have really enjoyed this weekend. I like doing all the three phases rather than just going to a show and doing just dressage or just jumping.”
The winners with their spoils
Rounding up the weekend, owner of Wallaby Hill the ever enthusiastic Alex Townsend said “It’s been a great weekend with lovely eventing people which is made all the better by the team around me who are simply the best.”
