As with the Grade 3 classes at Langwarrin Pony Club Horse Trials in Victoria, there were also Grade 4 classes running at both Open and Pony Club levels

The Grade 4 Open class was won by Mia Wright riding Wyuna Park Lacey, a young mare at just her third competition that Mia was riding for her mum. They were third after the dressage with a score of 21 but when the dressage leader, Rhiannon Denham riding Ashleigh Chocolate Royale who had a very good score of 15, was eliminated on cross country and second placed Meghan Strickland-Wood on Remembrance Day picked up time penalties, Mia moved into the lead thanks to double clear show jumping and cross country rounds

Kym Tolliday riding The Joker finished in second place and Grace George on Cooper took third

The Pony Club Grade 4 was won by Hannah Bonella on the very striking Mickey (presumably named after Mickey Blue Eyes). Mickey and Hannah jumped a lovely clear show jumping round, looking very professional, and finished on their dressage score of 25 with Esta Christensen riding Roxy in second place and Chloe Windt riding Jack Daniels Whiskey in third

We didn’t get to chat with Brooke Haworth who won the Grade 5 Open Class which is a shame as I would love to know more about the irresistibly named Woglet the Goblet

They dominated this class in the dressage with a fabulous score of 9! Woglet the Goblet may not be big but he obviously has all the right moves and, although he dropped one rail in the show jumping, he zoomed around the cross country, adding no further penalties to finish on a score of 13. Second placed Nicola Mahomed riding Samia Awakening also had a very good day, finishing on a score of 15 while third placed Maddison Jerkovic riding Jazz finished on their dressage score of 28

And, although there was plenty of young eventing talent on show at Langwarrin, we must give a shout out to the oldest rider that day - well done to Anthony Nemaric riding Rich Heritage in the Open Grade 3 - a spring chicken still enjoying eventing at the age of 66!
