The Australian International 3 Day Event is hoping to add a CIC3* class to their schedule in 2016 if a suitable sponsor can be found.
The post on their Facebook page has been well received by riders in Australia and New Zealand who like the idea of being able to compete at CIC 3* level at the prestigious event held in the parklands of Adelaide city centre in November each year.
Two young New Zealand riders that we spoke to Puhinui in December 2015, Sam Felton and Ginny Thompson, both confirmed that they are aiming for Adelaide in 2016 and this class may entice more Trans Tasman visitors to the only FEI Classic Series event in the southern hemisphere. A CIC3* class would probably also be of interest to other visiting international riders who may be able to pick up a catch ride more easily for this level of competition
While three of the FEI Classic Series events, Rolex Kentucky (USA), Badminton and Burghley (UK) only host CCI4* competitions during their events, both Luhmuhlen in Germany and Pau in France have additional features with Luhmuhlen holding a CIC3* and Pau featuring the CAIO4* Driving competition
In 2015 the Australian International 3 Day Event also hosted the Equestrian Grand Final in dressage, jumping and exhibition eventing and it seems that a World Cup Showjumping class is definitely also on the agenda for 2016
So, the only question is, which lovely sponsor out there wants to support this very good idea of adding a CIC3* class in Adelaide?
