The final of the new FEI Nations Cup Eventing Series which debuted this year will take place at Boekelo in the Netherlands this week.
The event at Boekelo has long held a ‘Nations Cup’ style team event so it is fitting that this is where the final of the new series is to be held. The best five results out of the six events will count towards the Final classification and at this stage Germany is looking pretty good in the pole position on 41 points and Spain the nearest contender in second place with 28 points. It doesn’t seem likely that Spain can topple Germany as they are not sending a team to Boekelo; the sole Spanish representative is Cristina Pinedo Sendagorta riding Windsor H whereas Germany have a host of top guns competing including Bettina Hoy on Designer 10, Dirk Schrade on Edino, Ingrid Klimke on Escada Js and Tabasco 70, Michael Jung on Halunke FBW, Sandra Auffarth on Parancs and Andreas Ostholt on So Is Et
Other countries with enough riders to form teams are Australia, Belgium, France, Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Switzerland, Sweden and the USA.
