Equestrian Australia reminds eventing riders of national requirements

With the launch of the FEI online entry system for Eventing, the FEI database has recently started to display Eventing qualifications for athletes and horses.

In addition to meeting FEI requirements, athletes are reminded that there are also Equestrian Australia (EA) requirements they need to meet – please refer to page 46 of the EA National Eventing Rules.

What does this mean?

Your FEI qualification is only accurate if you also meet EA’s requirements. If you do not meet EA’s qualification requirements then your FEI qualification is not current.

This applies to athletes competing both within Australia and overseas.

Why does Equestrian Australia have separate qualification requirements?

As per the FEI Eventing rules, in order to be entered in an International Competition, Athletes and Horses must first and foremost fulfil the criteria set by their National Federation.

In addition to the criteria set by National Federations the eligibility to compete will be determined by the achievement of a number of Minimum Eligibility Requirements in International Competitions.

National Federations are encouraged to set stronger and additional criteria to FEI’s minimum requirements for Horses and Athletes.

EA sets a higher standard of eligibility requirements in order to ensure that combinations progressing up through the levels do so in the safest possible manner.

You can check your FEI level of eventing qualification on the FEI database.
