Virtual Eventing virtually underway

Megan Jones' stunning outfit at 2019 Aus3DE trot-up - what will she be wearing for the Virtual Eventing' trot up, we wonder?

Four Australians are among the many international riders taking part in the Virtual Eventing competition next week

Australian-based Megan Jones and Sarah Clarke along with UK-based Sam Griffiths and Warren Lamperd are helping to raise money for various charities through the Virtual Eventing competition which runs from Wednesday 6th May to Sunday 10th May (funnily enough, just when Badminton would have run!)

The virtual event will mirror a full event with the Horse Inspection on Wednesday, dressage on Thursday and Friday, a ‘cross country test’ on Saturday and the big finale on Sunday

“The format will include a trot up as you’ve never seen before, a single mounted phase - the dressage test, which has already been recorded by our riders to ensure we abide by current Covid-19 lockdown procedures in place from the Government and the BEF guidelines. This footage will be shown on our livestream when our star-studded judges’ line-up will be judging the competition live. We will be including a series of unmounted cross-country and jumping” say the organisers

Other big names include Britain’s Gemma Tattersall, Laura Collett and William Fox-Pitt along with entries from Sweden, France, Brazil, Italy, the Netherlands and USA, making it a very international line-up

There is also an online auction running in conjunction with the fund raiser and there will be a virtual shopping village open from Wednesday 6th May

The draw has now been done and you can watch here
