Emily King - Ambassador for the Mitsubishi Motors Cup

Talented, young event rider Emily King is announced as the Ambassador for the Mitsubishi Motors Cup to be held at the Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials on Tuesday 3 – Wednesday 4 May 2016. This is particularly fitting as 2016 is the 25th year of sponsorship by Mitsubishi at the world famous horse trials and Emily’s mother, Mary King, won the first ever Mitsubishi Motors Trophy at the horse trials 25 years ago.

The Mitsubishi Motors Cup is an opportunity for true amateur riders to compete across the hallowed turf at Badminton.  Riders will battle it out to win an exceptional prize package courtesy of Mitsubishi Motors which includes a brand new Mitsubishi of their choice for a year.

Emily is following a similar path as her mother, Mary King MBE, who has represented Great Britain at six Olympic Games, won two silver medals and one bronze.  Emily has already established herself on the international eventing circuit in her own right and promises to be one of our future stars in the sport.

The 20 year old is the leading female rider under 21 years of age, National under 21 Champion and Junior European Individual Silver medallist.   To add to these accolades Emily is now set to make her debut at the Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials, riding Brookleigh, on whom she came fourth in her first CCI4* competition at Les 4 Etoiles de Pau in France last Autumn.

Emily commented “For the amateur rider competing in the Mitsubishi Motors Cup is an incredible achievement, it takes dedication and determination and it is wonderful that so many of the competitors have been able to achieve their dreams and ride at Badminton.   I am proud to be the Ambassador for the Mitsubishi Motors Cup, the support of Mitsubishi Motors for this important competition encouraging amateur riders is fantastic and something we all appreciate.”

“Emily is an exceptionally hardworking young rider and her talent, skill and professionalism is something we know our Mitsubishi Motors Cup competitors will be able to relate to.  It is fitting this year, our 25th Anniversary at the world famous Badminton Horse Trials, that both Emily and her mother will play a role in making 2016 a year to remember at Badminton,” said Lance Bradley, Managing Director of Mitsubishi Motors in the UK.
