To complete your first ever Burghley is a big achievement, especially when it is your first CCI4* and it is on a horse you have done everything with yourself
28 year old Sophie Brown from Lincolnshire and the 14 year old Wil, owned by Mrs Suzanne Brown and Sophie, completed this year’s Burghley in 39th place.
Sophie bought Wil unbroken when he was 'extremely feral and borderline untouchable' but Sophie persevered and began competing him as a five year old; since then the pair has come through the ranks together and in April they gained their best result with a third place in the CCI3* at Ballindenisk.
Fo Sophie the experience at Burghley was a great one but she admits to never having been so tired in her life as after the cross country phase!
