On a weekend packed with sport in the UK at Wimbledon, Silverstone, and Lord’s, Northallerton put on their own brand of equestrian excitement with two days of sections covering from BE80T up to BE105.
Saturday was the day for double clears in the BE90 as all winners had faultless show jumping and cross country rounds. Connie Russell and Autumn Double took the Section A (watch their winning ride here) to finish on their dressage score of 30.5, whilst Ashley Suddes and Greenvale Arabella took Section B with another double clear finishing on a really impressive dressage score of 19.3. Section C the BE90 Open was won by Georgia Dukes on Skylarks Dream finishing on their dressage score of 25.3.
The BE80T Section D was won by Katie Stephens-Grandy on Rathcline Kestrel with another double clear to finish on 29.8 and Section E was won by Megan Harrison on Gigman Lockie Leonard who added just for faults from a rail in the show jumping to her dressage score of 26.3. The final Section of the day was for BE100 and won by Louise Wilson on Blackrock Fred rounding off the day with another double clear to finish on their dressage score of 30.3 (watch their winning ride here).
Another great day of sunshine for Sunday’s action which kicked off with BE 100 Section G taken by Josie Proctor on Top Gun VII finishing on their dressage score of 27.8 with Alex Postolowsky taking both of the final two podium spots on Trent Parkway and Carolain, who were second and third respectively. Alex went one better on Iden Van De Rosweide to win Section H with a double clear to finish on her dressage score of 27.3.
The BE100 Open Section I was won by Iamwotiam ridden by Emma Corner who says he really suits his name! They lead from start to finish, being first in for the dressage and then clocking up a double clear meant their score of 27.3 was never headed.
Emma has had the 12-year-old Hanoverian for seven years and she describes him as very consistent and quite laid back, although it has been a bit of a bumpy road
“He’s Mum and Dad’s favourite which is why we still have him.” She says. “He’s a total gentleman and very kind-hearted perhaps too kind-hearted and that means he can lose his confidence easily. We will take him to the 105 at Frickley and see how he gets on with the aim of going round the 2* at Sommerford.”
Two more BE90 sections were contested on Sunday with Elle Gair and Micklow Primative Lightyear taking Section J (watch their winning ride here) and Lauren Hyde and Fons K winning Section K both finishing on their dressage score.
To round off a great weekend of eventing there were two BE 105 classes. Elizabeth Page and Bellville Clover took Section L on a score of 31.8 whilst Alex Postolowsky added a fourth ribbon to a successful campaign with another win in Section M on Lordships Parc Royale, rounding off a great day of eventing on a super sporting Sunday!
