In 2018 Richmond Equestrian Centre changed ownership with Andrew and Abigail Turnbull taking over the reins. They were keen to continue the running of the Richmond Horse Trials but have put their own subtle changes to the running and layout of the event.
Situated between the North Yorkshire Moors and the Yorkshire Dales, Richmond Equestrian Centre is set in nearly 120 acres, providing a picturesque equestrian venue with some of the best facilities in the North of England.
The cross country course is built across 50 of these acres and hosts two British Eventing Horse Trials over BE 90, 100, Novice and Intermediate tracks each year in April and September. The Monday following these two events the cross country course is usually open to the public for schooling
The Novice and Intermediate courses are bold and challenging and with alternatives where required to ensure that they are inviting and suitable for first timers. All of the courses are progressive, designed to educate and encourage both horse and rider and the show jumping is up to height and held on a brand new all-weather surface
The water complex built in 2016 and the additional bank complex added in 2017 have both proved successful and continue to add variety to the courses
In 2018,Heidi Woodhead on Harieko DHI won one of the Novice sections at Richmond (1) - our cross country video of their ride gives a very good idea about the course and the going at this lovely event
