Well, it's all systems go now. The two-legged Australian based team members have arrived safely in Kentucky and are awaiting their steeds who should arrive on Friday after the long trip via Hong Kong, Alaska, LA (with 3 days quarantine) and Cincinnati It certainly is a long trip for the horses who will hopefully recover well – especially as most of them are seasoned travellers. Stuart Tinney was in the enviable position of having two horses selected and a last minute decision at the end of the squad camp put the handsome grey horse Vettori (Kiwi) on the squad and on the plane. Kiwi, owned by the Tinneys, Kathy Ward and Peter O’Connell is no doubt the more experienced horse but Stuart is a lucky man to have the wonderful younger horse Panamera as a fantastic prospect for London 2012, having just missed out on selection for the WEG. Kathy and Peter, long time supporters of the Tinneys and the sport (they were also the owners of one of Stuart’s previous top horses, Ava) will be heading over to Kentucky to watch Kiwi and Stuart and are busy making their last minute arrangements! Other news from Kentucky is via our “secret inside source”. If this was Top Gear, he would be known as The Stig but we’ll just call him (or her?) our “roving reporter”! These videos shows some “behind the scenes” views of the Kentucky Horse Park in its final stages of preparation. During the course of the event we’ll be providing you with some photos, footage and commentary on a side of the WEG few people get to see from some inside sources – so stay tuned!
