Next stop Adelaide

It is only a couple weeks since we arrived home but we think it's time to head off on a little adventure! So, Adelaide - here we come.

The Adelaide Three Day Event is one of our favourites. A group of us book two wonderful houses next to each other within walking distance of the Park (well, just about everything is walking distance in Adelaide but....), fly in on Thursday, lunch out on Friday (although we are very dedicated to the sport, we are also dedicated to Adelaide's wineries and restaurants - The Star of Greece at Port Willunga this year), in the marquee with great food and wine on Saturday, brunch and showjumping on Sunday. What a great way to spend the weekend.

While we are enjoying ourselves some of the riders from An Eventful Life will be hard at work. Last year's Four Star winner, Stuart Tinney will be competing in the Two Star class on GV Anzac and also in the Four Star - this year on Watermark Grayson. Local hero Wendy Schaeffer, fresh from her season of showjumping in Europe, has two experienced horses in the Four Star - Koyuna Sun Shine and Koyuna Sun Dancer and will no doubt be out to show that she is still a fierce competitor on the Eventing scene. Shane Rose has the talented Statford Neo in the Two Star class ( no ride in the Four Star unfortunately as it's always great to watch Shane jump around the big tracks) while Megan and Sonja will be sitting this one out.

Sonja is busy back at home on the farm doing all sorts of unspeakable things with rams and waiting for Jag (Ringwould Jaguar) and Ben (Parkiarrup Illicit Liaison) to arrive home. Megan, who lives in the Adelaide Hills, will be at the event but not competing - her recent arrival back in the country meant that she has not had time to prepare Floyd ( Kirby Park Allofasudden) for competition and, as we all know, the wonderful Jester will not be competing for a while. We'll miss you Jester! However, Megan will be doing book signings for An Eventful Life at the Bonnett's Saddlery stand in the Trade Village so make sure that you pop by and say hello. This is the perfect chance to get your book signed and stock up on a few copies as extra special Christmas presents. Wendy and the guys will try and stop by too if their competition schedule allows but if you miss them at the Bonnett's stand, keep your book with you in case you see them around - they'll be happy to sign! The weather forecast for Friday is warm but nothing like last year's 40 plus degrees thank heavens.

It's hard to believe that this time last year we hadn't even launched the book - so much has happened since then! This year our table in the marquee will even include a couple on their honeymoon - now that's what I call die-hard fans! The poor groom doesn't even like horses but I think that he was enticed by a week in the Barossa prior to the event! So we're looking forward to a great weekend at the Adelaide International Three Day Event and bringing you all of the news (even on Friday while I'm at lunch I'll have my spies out!) so stay tuned! PS The 2010 Australian Three Day Event will be telecast Australia wide on the Seven Network midday on January 1st so put it in your diary
