Read More: EA High Performance Eventing Squads for 2022 Announced
Equestrian Australia (EA) has made available the FEI World Championships 2022 Australian selection policies and will be offering webinars for all Dressage, Eventing, and Jumping athletes who intend to campaign for FEI World Championship team selection later this year.
The webinar will be presented by EA High Performance Director, Chris Webb, and will run for approx. 30-minutes outlining the selection process and requirements (details available on EA website)
This year the FEI World Championships 2022 will be hosted across three locations in lieu of a World Equestrian Games with the World Championships for Driving and Eventing to be held in Pratoni, Italy from 15th – 25th September 2022
Unlike the new team quota for the Olympic Games, teams for the Eventing World Championships will still be made up of a maximum five (5) athletes, including one (1) team reserve combination*
For the Eventing athletes, the following selection timelines have been advised by EA
- On or before 10 August 2022 the National Eventing Selection Panel (‘the NESP’) will select up to 15 horse and athlete combinations to be nominated to the FEI (‘the World Championship Nominated Entries’)
- On or before 17 August 2022 the NESP will select a Squad of 8 combinations (‘the World Championship Squad’). The World Championship Squad will be selected from the World Championship Nominated Entries. The World Championship Squad will comprise the five (5) combinations to compete at World Championship (‘the World Championship team’) plus three (3) reserve combinations (‘the World Championship Reserves’) that will not be ranked
- At or before the First Horse Inspection at the World Championship on 14 September 2022, the NESP, in consultation with the Chef d’Equipe, will select (from the World Championship team) four (4) team combinations and one (1) individual combination (‘the World Championship Individual’) to represent Australia at the World Championships.
EA selection policies were under scrunity during the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games following circumstances that led to Australia being left without a show jumping team at the last moment
