The 2016 Australian International 3 Day Event (Aus3DE) has been awarded ‘Best Eventing Event of the Year’ by the international equestrian magazine L’Annee Hippique.
Voted by readers across the world, the Aus3DE has beaten numerous other international events to take home this prestigious award, and truly defines the Olympic standard event as one of the best ‘Three Day Events’ in the world.
Aus3DE Chair, Dr Felicity-ann Lewis, says this award truly puts the Mitsubishi Motors Australian International 3 Day Event on the world equestrian map and is testament to the hard work and dedication that Event Director, Gillian Rolton, and the Aus3DE team have invested into the event over the past 20 years.
“Gillian Rolton was so thrilled to receive the news that the Mitsubishi Motors Australian International 3 Day Event was recognised by the international equestrian community and to receive the award – ‘Best Eventing Event of the Year’ by L’Annee Hippique,” says Dr Lewis.
“Gillian has worked tirelessly as Event Director to ensure that the world knows about Adelaide and the unique equestrian event that is hosted in the heart of this beautiful city.
“Over the last ten years, Gill has overseen the growth of the event, from three days of competition to a four-day program that now includes Friday and Saturday night entertainment, as well as displays, masterclasses and Event Ambassadors from all over the world,” says Dr Lewis.
This is the second consecutive year that the Aus3DE has received an ‘Event of the Year’ Award. Last year, the event was awarded ‘Event of the Year’ at the annual Equestrian Australia awards, beating all other equestrian events in the country.
With only a few days until this year’s competition kicks off in Victoria Park and the east parklands, spectators are encouraged to get their tickets now. Families can check out all the Cross Country action after the Credit Union Christmas Pageant, with entry for kids under 16 free.
L’Annee Hippique is a prestigious yearbook that is produced in conjunction with the FEI (Federation Equestre Internationale) and distributed to more than 80 countries across the globe, providing a detailed report of the international competition season across all FEI Disciplines including eventing, show jumping, dressage, endurance, driving and reining.
The 2017 Mitsubishi Motors Aus3DE will attract Australia’s best horse and rider combinations across three phases – Dressage, Cross Country and Show Jumping, with the event to be a qualifying competition for the Australian team for the 2018 World Equestrian Games to be held in North Carolina, USA.
The 2017 Mitsubishi Motors Australian Three Day Event will be held in Adelaide’s inner-city East Parklands from Thursday 16 to Sunday 19 November, 2017.
