Hugh Jackman is back!

      Amanda Ross and Dicavalli Diesel

An Eventful Life is filming all competitors on cross country at the

Mitsubishi Motors Australian International 3 Day Event - find out more here

Amanda Ross was always going to be hotly tipped to lead the CIC3* at the Mitsusbishi Motors Australian International 3 Day Event with her two very talented horses in the field. At the end of the morning it was the 12-year-old warmblood gelding Dicavalli Diesel (‘the Hugh Jackman’ of equines) who led the field with a score of 31.50 while RLE Poynestown Will is in seventh place on 37.2. Amanda pulled in plenty of 8’s from the visiting judges but a few 4’s brought the overall score down a bit

Dicavalli Diesel won the CCI2* in Adelaide in 2015 but was out of competition due to injury in 2017, just recently coming back to competition and showing top form in the dressage arena. However, Amanda has been opting to hold back on cross country on harder surfaces, waiting for the big one in Adelaide. We caught up with Amanda after her test - that full interview coming soon

       Deon Stokes and Koyuna Levi

Amanda is well known for her dressage prowess but so is the man chasing her in second place, Deon Stokes. Deon is ranked 299th in the world on the FEI Dressage Rankings but dancing between the boards on a fit eventing horse is an altogether different prospect! Today his 14 year old thoroughbred gelding Koyuna Levi put his best foot forward for a very consistent test producing a personal best score at this level of 33.70

Shane Rose took over the ride on Soigne Jackson’s nine year old warmblood Ultimate Velocity earlier this year and they too produced one of their better scores so far with 35.70 leaving them in third place. Ultimate Velocity was a bit of a ‘bad boy’ in his early years and very nearly ended up at the knackery but luckily Soigne fell in love with him and took him on as a project.

At that time Soigne was based with Shane at Bimbadeen Park and Shane didn’t quite feel the same love for the quirky horse - to the extent that Shane refused to get on him! Obviously, Shane and the horse have come to an amicable agreement now that Ultimate Velocity has grown up a bit and things have been going swimmingly this year, including a third and sixth at 2* level in their short time together
