Britain’s Mike Etherington-Smith will return to Adelaide in 2023 as the cross country course designer for the CCI5* at the newly named Adelaide Equestrian Festival (previously known as the Australian International 3 Day Event)
The CCI5* event, one of only seven in the world and the only one held in the southern hemisphere, returns after a two-year hiatus due to the Covid pandemic and will run a CCI4*-S and CCI3*-L alongside the CCI5* competition
Mike E-S, as he is known, was first appointed as the CCI5* cross country course designer for the event in 2015 and has developed the course each year until the event was cancelled in 2020 and 2021
The event returns in a new slot on the FEI calendar, running from 20th – 23rd April 2023 instead of the late November date in previous years, making it the first CCI5* event of the year
