Organisers of the 2016 Australian International 3 Day Event (Aus3de) are pleased to announce that the top British rider, Oliver Townend, will be competing in the RM Williams CIC3* class at the 2016 Aus3de, riding Tim Boland’s warmblood cross, Napoleon.
Oliver is a highly competitive international rider, who recently won the prestigious Event Rider Masters Series in the UK. His other notable performances include winning the 2009 CCI4* at Badminton Horse Trials and the CCI4* at the 2009 Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials, as well as competing with success in the British National Championships, European Championships, and 2014 World Equestrian Games.
Aus3de Event Director Gillian Rolton said Oliver will bring a high standard of riding to the competition Australian International 3 Day Event.
“Oliver is a character, always a great competitor who doesn’t go out there just to make up the numbers!” Gill said. “He will bring a top level of competitive riding to Adelaide, for our riders to benchmark against. As one of UK’s best event riders in 2016, he will no doubt draw a good crowd, as well as give our Australian riders a run for their money.”
“He has a real chance of being at the top of the leader board in the RM Williams CIC3* . His ride, Napoleon has also had much recent success, winning Melbourne CCI2* in 2015, and was third at Sydney CCI2* in 2015, so they should make a great team,” she said.
“The 2016 Australian International 3 Day Event is the event all Australian and Kiwi riders aspire to and we anticipate the event to attract more international riders in years to come,” she said.
Oliver will arrive in Sydney next month to begin the training for the Aus3de in November. He will arrive in Adelaide the week of the event, starting 3-6 November.
