It is going to be a real Three Day Event at Quirindi in NSW, Australia this week.
The three days of competition from 5th – 7th May 2023 will see all dressage take place on Friday, cross country on Saturday and show jumping on Sunday. So those who keep being thrown by the new dates for Badminton Horse Trials, with cross country on Sunday this year, can get an eventing fix at Quirindi instead!
The event is running classes at International level with a CCI4*-S, CCI3*-L and CCI2*-L (for those all-important FEI qualifications) plus National long format classes at EvA60-L, EvA80-L and CCN95-L, CCN1*-L and CCN3*-S
This of course gives competitors, even at the lower levels, the opportunity to run in a real three-day format, including first and second horse inspections for everyone on Friday and Sunday
With the Adelaide Equestrian Festival having been and gone in its new date, it seems strange for the Australian season to be continuing in full three-day mode, but we’ll soon get used to it!
But we do have a chance to see the triple Adelaide winners in action at Quirindi this weekend with Hazel Shannon riding 5* winner Willingapark Clifford in the CCI4*-S, Willingapark Chelsea in the CCN3*-S and Willingapark Chilli in the EvA80-L
