The new look Sydney International 3 Day Event has attracted entries from all around Australia
The headline CCI4* classes have attracted great entries but most have opted for the CCI4*-S class sponsored by Bates Saddles as opposed to the Macarthur Motors CCI4*-L.
Victoria’s Andrew Cooper on Hunter’s Hill and Sam Lyle on BF Valour, who has had a great start to the season, are the hot favourites for the L class, while the CCI4*-S is packed with likely contenders including Event Director Shane Rose, Australian National Champion Amanda Ross, Stuart Tinney, Jess Rae, the recently married Emma Mason and Emma Bishop on the classy mare CP Issey Miyake
South Australian Olympian Megan Jones is on the entry list but has just discovered that her ‘sore’ knee is in fact broken so will have to sit this one out. Megan has an exciting team of new horses and must be itching to get out there but hopefully will be able to compete at Melbourne International 3 Day Event in June
Sydney International, which takes place at the same time as the Land Rover Kentucky Three Day Event (25th – 28th April) has adopted a ‘Kentucky staple’ for this year with tailgate parking spots available around Arena 1 (the Olympic Arena) which will be the centre of action for the dressage and show jumping phases and (in another first) the cross-country will also run through the arena.
An Eventful Life is sponsoring the Groom's Award again this year and eagle-eyed ex-supergrooms Alison Duthie and Emma D’Arcy will be checking out all sorts of things from stable management to turn-out (maybe even how nice riders are to their grooms!).
The winning groom will receive $300 cash, an annual 4* membership to An Eventful Life and An Eventful Life cross country video of their choice along with some lovely Sydney International 3DE merchandise thanks to Eventing NSW
