More than 200 combinations took part across the classes (EvA80 to CCN2*) at Candlebark EA Horse Trials on 18th and 19th November.
Held on the Clarke family property at Riddells Creek, 50km north-west of Melbourne, the riders and spectators enjoyed perfect spring weather, with some going home as new Young Rider or Junior Champions.
The Young Rider and Junior Championships are held each year as part of the national level CCN2* and CCN1* classes, with Avril Charman riding Hebrides leading from start to finish to take the Randlab CCN2* Young Rider and Kylah Brewer riding the off the track thoroughbred Princess Keikilani winning the Barastoc CCN1* Young Rider/Junior section.
Lucy Gunn and Blackall Park Tooleybuc won the OTT CCN1* Open section (sadly not on an off the track thoroughbred for the class sponsor, but second placed Christina Grear came up with the goods on her OTT Dalis) while Caitlin Smith riding WG Rococo took the win in the CCN2* Open.
This year there were also Young Rider/Junior sections for the EvA95 and EvA80 classes with Amy Frazzetto riding Dusty Hero (another of the many off the track thoroughbreds competing here) winning the KER EvA95 Young Rider/Junior and Kloe Soper’s Bonfire Belle taking the Erins Equine Services YR/Junior section of the EvA80.
In the open sections, Arlene Collins riding Sheoak Park Mo Stor won the Horseland EvA95 and Sarah Jelbart’s Flowervale Majorca took the An Eventful Life EvA95B.
Terry Delbridge on Northern Discovery won the EvA80A Open and Hayley Womersley riding Armani took the EvA80B.
