With drought conditions and site upheavals affecting dates on the Australian eventing calendar, Sydney International Horse Trials has added a CNC3* and CNC2* to their April schedule
In response to feedback from riders, the Organising Committee has agreed to run CNC3* and CNC2* classes at the Sydney International Horse Trials on 27-29 April. The decision to run the CNC3* and CNC2* classes is largely based on filling the nine-week gap for non-CCI combinations between Camden Equestriad in April and Melbourne CCI/CIC in June.
The unusual gap in the calendar has occurred due to extensive earthworks on site at Tamworth so their event in May is unable to run classes above EvA 105. A CIC1* class is not being run at Sydney, as there are four opportunities earlier in the year
The CNC 3* and 2* cross country tracks at Sydney International will be designed by Mike Etherington-Smith and Stuart Tinney. Dressage will take place on Friday, with cross country on Saturday and jumping on Sunday and the organisers are hoping that riders will help by entering early
“Numbers will be limited and early entries will be encouraged, so that we can sort out additional arenas and judges if needed. Staging a major FEI event at SIEC is a massive commitment, so that the Organising Committee really needs the support of riders and volunteers”
