Craig Barrett has re-started his 2020 eventing season with a win at Denman Horse Trials in NSW, Australia
A past 5* winner of the Australian International 3 Day Event, Craig started in second place on board Eligo in the CCN1*-S after a wet afternoon of dressage at Denman in the Hunter Valley at the first eventing competition to be run in Australia post Covid-19
However, Craig overtook the dressage leader and event organiser, Gordon Bishop with a clear show jumping round and headed into Sunday’s cross country phase in pole position.
Thankfully it was a drier day for cross country and Craig showed his experience, coming home with just 2.4 time penalties to take the win on a score of 33.50 but it was a close-run class with young Charlie Richardson completing the cross country without any faults for second place on 33.70 riding Bellbirds Sandpiper and Matilda Seppelt in third place riding GV Anzac (35.10)
