The competition was hot in more ways than one at Equestrian In The Park in Perth, Western Australia on Saturday with the showcase event taking place in unexpectedly hot conditions.
But the spectators found plenty of shade in the Hospitality Marquees surrounding the main arena where the two main classes were won by young riders.
Ruby Rae won the Riviera Diamond Class riding the nine-year-old warmblood gelding Wrenegade Rock and also took second place on the Welsh X pony Lockarts Popty Ping, while one of Western Australia’s top eventing riders, Kenya Wilson took third place riding Sweet Scentomint.
Junior rider Teagan Christie riding Amani Phantasie took the Horseland Grand Prix with a clear jumping round in the second round ahead of Riley Lyall riding GI Caramba and another Junior, Ellie Gough riding Don J’Amee in third
The event usually has a top visiting international rider and this year it was none other than Laura Collett who not only rode in the competition on Saturday but also took part in the Chris Bartle Masterclass held beforehand and hosted some clinics.
