An Eventful Life is filming all competitors on cross country at Sydney International Three Day Event – order or view XC Videos here
We may be heading towards the end of the season in Australia but there is one big last hurrah at the year yet to come
With Adelaide CCI5* having moved to its new date in April this year, the Sydney International Three Day Event is now the big event of the Australian late season, taking place from 10th – 12th November at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre, home of equestrian at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.
An Eventful Life at The Eventing Base
And talking of home, An Eventful Life will have a lovely new home base at Sydney International in partnership with The Eventing Base. If you haven’t heard about The Eventing Base, it’s a new initiative by the Horsley family, that aims to ‘bring together the community of riders by providing social marquees at eventing competitions in NSW’.
All are welcome to gather in the marquee, grab a glass of water, re-charge your phone and watch the action. The Eventing Base will be in the thick of it on all days, with a marquee on the arena for the dressage and showjumping and by the water jump on Saturday.
There will be plenty of action inside The Eventing Base marquee too as we’ll be showing our cross country footage on a large TV for your entertainment.
Did you know that, as well as filming at events around Australia we also film at most of the big events in the UK? So, you’ll be able to watch fabulous cross country by some of the best riders around tracks at Burghley, Blenheim, Bramham, Blair Castle, Burgham and Thoresby Park to mention just a few.
We’ll also be showing footage from our favourite Australian events, and of course we’re filming all competitors on cross country at Sydney International 2023 during the event!

We’ll also have a laptop in the marquee and, if you’ve ever wondered what fabulous content is behind the An Eventful Life paywall, this will be the perfect chance to find out!

The eventing action at Sydney International
While you gather at The Eventing Base, you’ll be treated to some great action by the top riders.
The entry lists are now published, and the FEI classes are chock-a-block with our favourite riders and there is also a mystery international guest rider (more about that in our next article)
24 combinations will be lining up for the Bates Saddles CCI4*-L with Shenae Lowings riding her World Championship horse, Bold Venture, Hazel Shannon with her triple 5* winner Willingapark Clifford, Olivia Barton and her Melbourne 4*-L winner Hollyander HG as hot prospects.
But there are several others to keep an eye on from interstate with Olympic medallist Sonja Johnson and Kenya Wilson making the trip from Western Australia, the in-form David Middleton with his two homebred horses from Victoria, Australian-based New Zealander Andy Daines and another New Zealand based rider, Savannah Stirling, who actually rides for Ireland and has just returned from a stint in the UK.
We’ll be bringing you daily updates on the website and our social media channels so stay tuned for a big week starting with the First Horse Inspection on Thursday 9th October.
