The 4Cyte Eventing at Willinga Park CCI will finally take place on 7th and 8th October 2023 after several years of cancellations and postponements.
Covid, floods and bushfires have played their parts in delaying the hosting of an International eventing competition at Willinga Park at Bawley Point, NSW. But luckily the owner of Willinga Park, Terry Snow, and his team are not easily discouraged and the event will finally go ahead this weekend.
First eventing competition at Willinga
It will be not only the first full International eventing competition held at the already iconic venue, where Dressage, Showjumping and Western competitions have been on the calendar for several years now, but their first ever full eventing competition following a very successful Test Event held in January 2022 at CCN2* level.
The impressive purpose-built facility at Willinga Park on the Southern Coast of NSW, which is so much more than just an equestrian centre, is the home of Hazel Shannon and her team of horses, who will be among the competitors this weekend.
Other top class combinations in the CCI4*-S include Shane Rose and Easy Turn, one of his hot prospects for Paris 2024, World Championship squad members Shenae Lowings and Bold Venture, the in-form Olivia Barton and of course Hazel on board the triple CCI5* winner, Willingapark Clifford.
The entry list is small for this year but we have no doubt that, once its date is firmly established in the Australian eventing calendar and people see what is on offer here, it will become one of Australia’s most popular events.
Eventing at Willinga Park Timetable
Four classes are running at CCN1*, CCI2*-S, CCI3*-S and CCI4*-S levels plus a Combined Training competition with the following timetable:
Dressage Saturday 7th October: CCI4/3/2/1*-S & Combined Training
Showjumping Saturday 7th October: All Classes
Cross Country Sunday 8th October: All Classes
