Gisborne in Victoria will be hosting its inaugural Equestrian Australia affiliated eventing competition this weekend on 30th & 31st January 2021
Last weekend we were beating the heat at Ballarat Pony Club Horse Trials with temperatures in the mid-30’s but thankfully since then the temperatures have dropped. The Gisborne grounds at Robertson Reserve are currently enjoying a good soaking with unusually high rainfall in Victoria at this time of year, which will be great for the going, and then the sun is set to make an appearance at just the right time!
Each level of competition, EvA95, EvA80 and EvA65 has two sections and some of last weekend’s winners at Ballarat will be also competing at Gisborne with Jasmyn Beesley riding Jazzdan Spellbound and Yona Lloyd riding Carlyle Park Bravo, winners of the Pony Club and Open Grades 2 last week, both in the EvA95.
Yona is not the only 5* rider making an appearance with the local ‘galloping vet’ Rohan Luxmoore riding two horses in the EvA65 and we’ve also spotted a 4* horse on the list with a new, younger, rider. It seems that event organiser James Lang has handed over his 16-year-old horse Mousetang to daughter Mirri, who will be piloting him around the EvA65
