The countdown is on to the 2023 Hanson Tonimbuk International Horse Trials in Victoria, Australia, taking place from 3th - 5th March

The event, held at the Tonimbuk Equestrian Centre about an hour from Melbourne, hosts international short format classes at CCI2*, CCI3* and CCI4* levels with national classes at 80cm, 95cm and CCN1*

The national classes kick off proceedings on Friday with dressage for some of the EvA80 and 90 classes. All remaining dressage takes place on Saturday along with show jumping in the Indoor arena for the EvA80, EvA95 and the CCI4* and CCI3* riders provide some entertainment with their show jumping taking place in the evening. So, we never know until the very end of the day who goes into the cross country in the lead – very exciting!

All classes head out on cross country on Sunday with the 4* competitors tackling Ewan Kellett’s course while Mick Pineo has designed the 3*, 2* and 1* courses and Will Foulkes the 95cm and 80 cm courses

The VRW CCI4*-S has eight competitors with Sophia Hill and Humble Glory hot favourites after their CCI4*-S win at the Equestrian Victoria Summer Horse Trials in early February while Murray Lamperd and Secret Mojo are back, no doubt looking to go one better than their second place in the 4* last year

There are 21 competitors in the Horseland Narre Warren CCI3*-S and 43 in the Charlie’s Stockfeed CCI2*-S, which also incorporates the Noble Spirit Award, presented to the best performed young rider in the class

We’ll be bringing you updates throughout the week and a full wrap up next week so stay tuned for lots of Aussie eventing action coming up from Tonimbuk!
