Watch out for those flags this weekend folks!
We’re heading to Sydney this weekend to cover the Randwick Equine Sydney Summer Classic.
Although some dressage will take place on Friday afternoon, most of the action will be taking place on Saturday and Sunday and we’ll be there for the first event of the year at the famous Sydney International Equestrian Centre, home of the Sydney 2000 Olympics
The CNC1*, 2*, 3* (and 2.5*!) classes have attracted top class riders including the Adelaide CCI4* winner Hazel Shannon and Clifford while, at the other end of the spectrum, the EvA60 classes are proving very popular. We particularly the EvA60 Amateur Over 40 class – hopefully we can get an interview with one of these enthusiastic eventers!
A quick note that this is the first event to run under the rules that came in on January 1st and the TD has pointed in particular the new rule regarding passing through the flags
“Riders are reminded of a change in the EA National Eventing Rules, effective from 1 January 2017 that affects Article 540.1. The change means that riders may no longer ask the jump judge for clarification of jumping penalties after jumping the fence, e.g. clarification of whether they passed between the flags. If you have any doubt as to whether you passed between the flags, you MUST either re-present and accept a 20 point penalty or continue on course and, if found subsequently to have jumped outside the flags, accept a 50 point penalty”
See you there!
