Australia has a new end of year feature event to look forward to this year, with the Sydney International Three Day Event taking place from 10th – 12th November 2023.
Changes to the calendar, with the Adelaide Equestrian Festival now running in April instead, means that the Sydney International, normally held early in the season, will now be the big one to aim for towards the end of year.
National and International Eventing classes
As well as a new date, there are changes to the classes on offer. The event will not be running short format FEI classes but will host the usual CCI2*L, CCI3*-L, CCI4*-L at international level.
The very popular national classes that run at EvA60, 80, 95 and CCN1* levels will again incorporate the Grassroots Championships, introduced in 2022. This is a special individual and team competition for riders that have never completed at CCN2* level and will be incorporated into the EvA60 – 1* classes.
The Yarraman Park Young Event Horse Classes
The Young Event Horse Classes will also see changes in 2023 with these championships being integrated into the existing classes, rather than as separate ‘age’ events.
The Young Event Horse classes will be integrated into the existing classes at EvA 95cm, CCN1*, CCI2* and CCI3* levels with the young horse entrants now completing all three phases of the event as per normal competition. These Young Horse classes are open to horses aged 4, 5, 6 and 7 years old and the 5, 6 and 7year old horses can be competed in one of two levels e.g.
95 cm – 4/5yo class for horses born in calendar year from 1st August 2019/18
1* – 5/6yo class for horses born in calendar year from 1st August 2018/17
2* Long- 6/7yo class for horses born in calendar year from 1st August 2017/16
3* Long- 7 /8yo class for horses born in calendar year from 1st August 2016/15
