Kenya Wilson and Sandros Salute look ready for Adelaide after winning the CCI4*-S at WAYER and Midland Toyota International Horse Trials in Western Australia
The W.A.Y.E.R & Toyota Midland International Horse Trials took place at the State Equestrian Centre, Brigadoon, near Perth on 1st & 2nd April 2023, kicking off the international eventing season in Western Australia and having an international flavour of its own.
26-year-old Kenya Wilson riding the 13-year-old NZ warmblood Sandros Salute MW won the CCI4*-S on a score of 36.7, adding just 0.4 time penalties in the show jumping and 1.6 time penalties on the Ewan Kellett designed cross country to take the win and this is one pair we’re expecting to see tackle their first CCI5* in Adelaide in a few weeks.
They look to have had a great final prep run after dominating the WA eventing scene for two years and taking fifth place in the CCI4*-L at Melbourne International last year against some very strong competition.

Ellie Gough riding Don J’Amee won the CI3*-S and Jaime Baker took the CCI2*-S riding Bling It To Me, both horses being off the track thoroughbreds that jumped double clear around the cross country
There was a touch of Italy on the weekend at the picturesque Swan Swan Valley event with Giovanni ‘Chicco’ Masci (ITA) joining Polly Ann Huntington on the FEI ground Jury.
Chicco lives and works at the Italian Equestrian Centre Military Centre at Montelibretti, which will host the FEI Eventing European Championship for Juniors and Young Riders from 14th – 17th September 2023
British-born but Western Australian based Polly Ann, who initiated the concept of WAYER (Western Australia Young Event Riders) to help young riders in the more remote part of Australia to gain coaching and an FEI pathway, will also be part of the Ground Jury for the CCI5* at the Adelaide Equestrian Festival
