Today’s cross country day at the Mitsubishi Motors Australian International 3 Day Event was full of drama and excitement across the three classes – more of that to come in other articles - but the funniest story of the day had to be that of Shane Rose and his tack malfunction on course

Shane was the fastest rider on cross country in the RM Williams CIC3* with just 1.2 time penalties riding the young horse Swiper at just his second 3* event.

As only three riders came home with time penalties in the single digits (Shane, Andrew Cooper and Callum Buczak) you would naturally assume that Shane’s 1.2 time penalties were the result of a focussed, strategic ride but it turns out that there was quite a lot of shenanigans going on around the course as Shane explains

Which leaves you wondering, what would his time have been without the tack malfunction and who has the flying piece of tack?
