Sophia Landy and Humble Glory
Sophia Landy’s Humble Glory has fast tracked from off the track to Australian International 3 Day Event Champion. The now seven-year-old thoroughbred started his eventing career well, winning his first ever competition at EvA95 in September 2017, just 11 weeks off the track, and at that point Sophia was pretty sure that she had something special on her hands
Their success continued but the aim to qualify for Adelaide in 2018 didn’t quite go to plan with Humble Glory shifting a shoe just before the start of the Melbourne International 3 Day Event
“We did everything we could to have him right in time for trot up, but in the end simply ran out of time. He went from non-weight bearing in the morning, to about 90% sound for trot up. We decided to give it a go, and in the end it was so close, but not quite enough to pass and sadly we were spun – ending our event before it even began!”
However, a quick trip (well, 12 hours ….) to compete at Quirindi proved fruitful and the pair were on their way to compete at the 2018 Mitsubishi Motors Australian International 3 Day Event. In Adelaide they moved from 26th after the dressage with a double clear cross country ride, adding just four faults in the show jumping to finish in sixth place overall behind some very big names in the sport and win the CCI2* Young Rider Championship
Some nerves at the presentation were soon soothed with a pick of grass!
