Kate Beadel and the 'wicked' Sharvalley Music
Wandin Park is always a special place for Kate Beadel (nee Farrell) as this is the venue where she became the Australian National Champion in 1995 riding Jabberwocky
This year she had a win but one at a lower level in the EvA95 on a pint sized horse that she has been riding for a client – Sharvalley Music. The striking coloured horse may be small but he has an enormous personality, is ‘a bit wicked’ and ‘will take the mickey whenever he can’ which is why Kate took over the ride from 11 year old owner a few months ago. He may not be easy but he is talented and, although Kate is not sure what the immediate future holds for Sharvalley Music, she certainly loves riding him
Tears were, as always, brought to Kate’s eyes following her cross country on Cloud, the horse that brought her back to eventing, in the CNC1*and the pair finished in 10th place
“He was horrid in the dressage” says Kate “But breathtaking on cross country”
You can see Kate’s determination in the video below to ‘get some control’ with Cloud on the downhill run to the keyhole and the accuracy test afterwards which cost them some time faults and Chris Height must have thought he was going to catch her! Kate told us more about her horses, including the paddock full of ex-racehorses she should be training for racing but will be eventing instead, and how the family need a bigger truck thanks to not only Kate's horses but the children's ponies too
