Well done Winks

Emma Bishop and CP Issey Miyake on their way to winning the NSW State Championship at Goulburn

The year has ended well for the Armstrong family with two daughters now listed on Equestrian Australia’s High Performance lists for 2019 as Annabel (Bols) Armstrong joins her sister, Emma Bishop, on the Generation Next Squad

The two ‘Armstrong girls’ may be petite, but they are proving a force to be reckoned with. Emma has had yet another good year on CP Issey Miyake, taking three international wins at 2* and 3* level and Bols also produced very consistent placings in 2018 on her 3* horses, Quaprice and ForgetMeNot

Emma and Bols grew up on their parents’ sheep property in Cassilis, NSW and have been around horses ever since they were small, but Emma is now married to Gordon Bishop while Bols and her partner Hamish Cargill own Coney Hatch Performance Horses in the Southern Highlands of NSW

As they say (or paraphrase), behind every good woman is another good woman – and this is often a mum. A few years ago, Alison Duthie chatted to Winks Armstrong, mother of Emma and Bols and we thought this deserved a re-run to celebrate the achievement of having produced two girls listed on Australian Eventing Squads!

Winks told Alison more about the family’s involvement in eventing and the changes that have happened in the sport over the years. There are also some fabulous photos from ‘days gone by’ in the original article which you can read here
