It never rains but it pours at Sydney and Tamborine

Sadly we're not filming at Tamborine or Sydney this weekend! But we'll see you there next time!

After an almost non-existent eventing season on the east coast of Australia in 2021, things were set to really swing back into action at the REC Specialist Equine Sydney Summer Eventing Classic in NSW and the Motorama Tamborine CCN One Day Event in Queensland but both events were cancelled within hours of each other today (Thursday 24th February)

A deluge of rain has come at just the wrong time for the two events with 42mm falling at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre (SIEC) on Wednesday on top of 36mm the day before and the rainfall likely to reach a six hourly rainfall of 80-120mm across a large swathe of south-east Queensland later today and overnight

“It is with immense sadness that the decision has been made to cancel our upcoming one day event this weekend. The forecast has continued to deteriorate despite our optimism and purchasing of many four leafed clovers….” say the organisers of Sydney while Tamborine have also issued the advice that “It is with deep regret that we advise the Tamborine Equestrian Group ODE event scheduled for the 26th & 27th February 2022 is being cancelled due to current wet weather and the future forecasted weather”

With the average rainfall for the month of February in Queensland normally around 155mm, there is no doubt that both States are experiencing an intense period of rain and storm conditions and there is nothing that anyone can do about it!

It has been raining dogs and dogs just south of Sydney .......

Nor can we - we were to be reporting and filming at both events but sadly we’ll have to wait a little bit longer for some eventing action in NSW. Instead, we’ll see you at Tamworth International Eventing in NSW on 26th and 27th March and, in the meantime, we’ll see you at Tonimbuk International in Victoria from 4th – 6th March. And of course, our UK season kicks off at Oasby (1) from 10th – 13th March

However, if you’re looking for a silver lining to these clouds, the cross country course at SIEC may not be welcoming any riders or horses this weekend but it did have some jumpers enjoying the green and lush conditions (turn up the volume) as they left the Start Box …
