New Zealand Eventing New Year wedding fever

It’s been a romantic week for two of New Zealand’s eventing fraternity with Maddy Crowe and Ginny Thompson tying the knot with their respective partners

Ginny and her new husband Mitch Thomasen became Mr and Mrs Thomasen (so not too much of a surname change for Ginny)

Ginny has been based in the UK since 2018 but returns to New Zealand during the British winter to warm up and, on this occasion, get married with her loved ones around her

“A massive thank you to all of our friends and family who made this day possible! It required a whole community to make our dream day come to life and we feel so spoilt. It was the most magical day and one we will never forget” says Ginny on her Facebook page.

A few days later, the 2020 New Zealand National Champion Maddy Crowe became Maddy Seivwright at Waihopai Valley in the appropriately named Blenheim. Not the Blenheim with a Palace that most eventing riders know, but a town on New Zealand’s South Island, well known for its wines

Maddy’s husband James is well-known in the racing industry, having ridden in England, Australia and New Zealand, and the couple have spent time in the UK in 2022. Rumour has it they’ll be settling back in Australia in the near future so hopefully we’ll see more of Maddy competing at Australian events in 2023 under her new name
