Will they get a chance to make it three in a row? Monica Oakley and Artist won the CCI3-L at Puhinui in 2019 and backed it up with a win in the CCI4*-L in 2020
The Puhinui International Three Day Event avoided the ‘Covid curse’ in 2020 and, in a year when so many eventing competitions were affected, the New Zealand event managed to go full steam ahead
But in 2021, Covid has finally caught up and, with Auckland, New Zealand currently in lockdown, Eventing Auckland says that it ‘has no option but to defer the Puhinui International Three Day Event (scheduled to take place from December 10th – 12th ) due to the Covid situation in Auckland and the uncertainty about our borders opening’
The organisers are currently in discussions with the FEI to try and find alternative dates for the international event which normally hosts International long format classes at 2*, 3* and 4* level as well as national classes
But in the meantime, they say that “We will be running an alternative event on our normal dates to make sure that all riders (especially those from Auckland) have some opportunity to get out and have some fun! If borders are still closed it will be an Auckland only celebration!”
If an alternative date can be found for the International event we hope to be joining in the fun at Puhinui on the revised dates and once again filming all riders on cross country!
Who is hoping for a replacement date for Puhinui International?!
