Monica Spencer rides Artist at FEI World Eventing Championships, Pratoni 2022
ESNZ Eventing has announced the riders and horses short listed for the New Zealand Senior and Young Rider Teams to take part in the 2023 Oceania Championships
The normally biennial Oceania Championships took place at the Melbourne International 3 Day Event, Australia in 2022 and will also run in 2023 due to a ‘Covid calendar catch-up’
In 2023 the Oceania Championships will be held on New Zealand soil at the Land Rover Horse of the Year, Hastings from 10th – 12th March and, as the host nation, New Zealand has the opportunity to field more than one team per category.
2022 World Championship bronze-winning team medallist Monica Spencer is named on the Senior list with both Artist, her Pratoni 2022 mount, and Chasing Great, who recently took second place in the CCI3*-L at Puhinui International 3 Day Event. The Puhinui 3* winner, Lizzie Green riding Comanche and 4*-L winner, Beth Wilson riding Alto et Audax are also listed
Australia claimed the Senior Team Championship and New Zealand the Young Rider team Championship in 2022

The short-listed combinations will attend a training camp, held in conjunction with the Eventing Performance squads training on 7th and 8th of February 2023 at the National Equestrian Centre, Taupo
The final teams will then be named after the Springbush Horse Trials on 25 and 26th February 2023.
