Fun in the sun as we run (or trot) at Puhinui

One of our favourite outfits today - Vicky Browne-Cole presents Eli for the Veterinary Associates CCI2*-L

An Eventful Life is filming all competitors on cross country at

Puhinui International Horse Trials 2019 - find out more here

With the main arena and hospitality area moved from the ‘Dream Arena’ down the Manukau Reserve, the trot-up track for the Horse Inspections also found themselves re-located for the 2019 Puhinui International Horse Trials

Unlike last year when the weather gods were against the event, this year we had a bright and breezy first day for the horses and riders that have converged from around New Zealand and, fingers crossed, it is set to stay that way until Sunday (then, we’ll see, with some typically Auckland thunderstorms forecast …)

With the sunshine, out came the smart shorts, sunglasses and short sleeves for the first horse inspections across the classes from CCN1* (the only National class) and the three FEI classes this year, the CCI2*, CCI3* and CCI4* and of course we had some favourites …..

Supermodel style from Francesca Masfen presenting Kinnordy Gallilee for the Thompson Electrical CCN1*-L

Chic Alex Donald presents Gina VT Bloemenhof for the Veterinary Associates CCI2*-L

A lovely smile from Kyle! Kyle Calder presents Apteryx for the Gilmours CCI3*-L

Black and white with hat and sunnies for Sarah Saint Merat presenting Jalisco for the Thompson Electrical CCN1*-L

BUT our favourite sunnies had to be these ................

      Elise Power and Arctic Cielo

Best mane award went to Beth Wilson (yes, Beth, not her horses ....)

Ones to Watch ...

Charlotte Treneary and her two horses in the Thompson Electrical CCN1*-L: Mirabella Piper and Kabo Pongo

More to come from Charlotte soon but we also had a chat with Ella Morshuis about her recent successes with World Famous, who will be competing in the Veterinary Associates CCI2*-L ....

And of course you can't ignore last year's winners, Amanda 'Muzi' Pottinger and Good Times and Fiona Fraser with Xanthus III, both competing this year in the Gilmours CCI3*-L
