Olympic fever and UK events

Gemma Tinney and supporters at an eventing competition in the UK with her horse PSH Hilton | An Eventful Life

July has been a mixture of hemispheres for Tinney Eventing with events in the UK and an Olympic focus in Australia. In England Gemma had an outing at Aston-Le-Walls (we even had a support crew at Aston! Love the effort Stuart and Terry-Ann) and a fairly long drive to Burgham in Northumberland.

Gemma’s horse PSH Hilton has settled in very well at Sammi Birch’s property, a great yard and environment to be in, especially as Sammi is very happy to have fellow Aussies around and mentor them, a blessing when you are so far from home (as Gemma Tinney is!!).

WhatsApp has been running hot with questions, but Gemma is standing on her own two feet remarkably well (proud mum and dad!). Getting the right experience in the UK is one of the foundations for our next generation of hopeful eventing champions, providing important building blocks and learning experiences.

We are very grateful to Tim Game (part owner of PHS Hilton) plus our sponsors, CopRice, Bates Saddles, Horseland and Ceva for their continued support of Tinney Eventing plus seeing the vision of future riders of our sport. It still is very tough to strive for excellence and pursue your dreams in eventing, so we are filled with gratitude and so appreciative. Thank you.

Gemma has picked up some racing work at Ben Pauling Racing (National Hunt horses) as well as working at Sammi's, providing great exposure and experience. Plus we’re guessing this pays the bills!!

Olympic eventing medallist Stuart Tinney being interviewed at Home during Paris 2024 Olympic Games | An Eventful Life

In the meantime, Stuart has been 'home alone' and by all accounts doing a fine job! There was plenty to watch with the Paris 2024 Olympics in full swing, and Chris Burton winning an individual Silver at the first equestrian event up. What a ride!!! It was poetry to watch him on the incredible horse Shadow Man and get such a fabulous result.

Following that, Channel 9 TV was straight out to interview previous Olympic medal winners, plus an amazing interview and grab for the FEI, so a busy month globally for us!

Stuart also flew to the Gold Coast (home of a future Olympic Games as well) to welcome the opening of the new Horseland Gold Coast store, looking very schmick and stylish. Horseland have been our long-term sponsors, we have had the pleasure of watching them grow into the national leader in equine supplies, it is always a pleasure to give back

Finally, we can’t finish without a huge CONGRATULATIONS to all the Australian equestrians for their performances at Paris 2024.

It certainly is no mean feat getting to an Olympic Games; we understand the dedication, focus, hard work plus stress involved for all team members, including ground staff. You are just phenomenal humans! PLUS of course our amazing horses. Without you we would have little purpose. We love you!

Cheers Tinney Eventing
