An Eventful Life is filming all competitors on cross country at
Bowral Kubota Festival of Eventing at Wallaby Hill
Cathryn Herbert had no wriggle room in the final phase of the CCI4* at the Bowral Kubota Festival of Eventing on Sunday but she didn’t need it to take the win
It is the first CCI4*-S win for Cathryn and the stallion, Wimborne Constable, who only started their partnership in 2021 when Cathryn took over the ride from Heath Ryan
They added just 4.8 time penalties on Saturday’s cross country to their second placed dressage day score, to head into Sunday’s show jumping in the main grass arena at Wallaby Hill where picnicking spectators enjoyed the final day of competition.
Jumping in reverse order, Queensland’s Gemma O’Leary riding Arnage Porsche put the pressure on, with a clear round and just 0.8 time penalties, moving into second place (40.50) when Andrew Cooper had one rail down on Pepper Jack, to drop to third (40.70)
But it was Cathryn and Wimborne Constable who took the CCI4* title, sealing the deal with a double clear round to finish on a score of 32.80, well ahead of the rest of the field
Olivia Barton riding Henrik APH followed up their win at the Queensland International 3 Day Event with a win here in the Wallaby Hill Farm CCI3*-S while Hazel Shannon and Willingapark Chelsea finished on top of the Prydes Easifeed CCI2*-S, with both combinations finishing on clear rounds
Christine Bates riding Fleeting won the Gubbins Pullbrook Group Mitre 10 CCN1* and Lamoza Velish riding Masterson NZ took the Hannover Lodge CCN1*- S Junior win
We’ll be back with our full report, a photo gallery and the winner cross country videos over the next few days so stay tuned ……
