There was a tropical feeling in Tamborine, Queensland today as the Motorama CCI One Day Event presented by the Tamborine Equestrian Group got underway
It was a sultry 30 degrees but luckily with plenty of shade around the dressage and show jumping arenas where the international classes did their first two phases.
Not totally unexpectedly, Andrew Cooper held the three top places in the Motorama CCI4*-S after the morning dressage, with Hey Arnold leading the way on a score of 32.9 ahead of his stable mates Pepper Jack (35.7) and Omega Star (37.7)
Hey Arnold maintained his lead with a clear show jumping round – the only one of the class – so will head of the cross country Start Box tomorrow with a few penalties in hand but Pepper Jack and Omega Star still hold second and third places
Justine Streater riding Quintana led the Cushavon Park CCI3*-S after dressage but two rails in the show jumping allowed Charlotte Lalak riding Legolas KPH to move ahead with just 0.4 penalties and now leading on a score of 33.6. Another visitor from NSW, Alex Townsend also climbed up the leaderboard on WHF Lyrical with 4.4 penalties in the show jumping to now sit in second place (38) while Justine holds third (41.1)
In the All Horses Veterinary Services CCI2*, Portia Wilson riding APH Seanna sits on top of the leaderboard on her dressage score of 29 with Hanna Lewindon riding Monsun Soldier in second (33) and Dean Morris riding Petros in third place (33.5)
