Katja Weimann and BP Flamboyant at the 2015 Australian International 3 Day Event
“It is with overwhelming disappointment that I have had to advise Equestrian Australia and selectors that I will no longer be contesting nomination for the Rio 2016 Olympics” says Australian eventing rider Katja Weimann
The 13 year old BP Flamboyant (Flynn) owned by Katja sustained a minor injury after his final gallop earlier this week and, as a result, their flight to Germany to compete at Luhmuhlen has been cancelled. Instead of competing in the CCI4* event, Katja now plans to give BP Flamboyant a short break and then aims to spend time competing overseas in 2017 in the hope of representing Australia at the 2018 World Equestrian Games in Bromont, Canada
“I would sincerely like to thank everyone who has wholeheartedly supported my quest for Olympic selection, and I am extremely grateful for the generosity of the local equestrian community. All my love, luck and best wishes go out to the other riders vying for selection, I wish them every success and I look forward to cheering on the Aussie team to Gold at Rio” says Katja on her Facebook page
