Shane Rose’s Olympic silver medal winning horse All Luck has died aged 26
The off the track thoroughbred by Bao Lack may not have been the best racehorse but he was spotted by Ebony Tucker in Victoria, Australia as having plenty of talent as a potential eventing horse and he did not disappoint.
Bought from Ebony by Shane’s long-time supporter Angela Shacklady, All Luck went on to win many events in Australia, competed for Australia at the 2006 World Equestrian Games in Aachen, was part of the Australian silver medal winning team in Hong Kong at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and finished third at Burghley in 2006
He retired from eventing competition in 2009 and spent the next few years as a dressage horse with Judy Horder
“Lucky is without a doubt the best horse I have ever ridden. He is an amazing galloper and a brave jumper. He is careful, adjustable and rideable, and he has a beautiful frame and shape. Added to that he has a really nice temperament and is not a needy type of horse, which I really like. I could leave him in a yard all day by himself and he wouldn’t fret or worry about anything – he would simply eat and drink and be waiting for me when I got back.”
