Tinney Eventing Update October 2024

Gemma Tinney rides PHS Hilton on cross country at Little Downham International Horse Trials 2024 | An Eventful Life
Gemma and PHS Hilton at Little Downham International

Seriously - where does time go!? Gemma has now been in the UK for almost six months now and she certainly has been busier than us on the eventing circuit.

With events on tap thick and fast in the UK, she has tried to keep up a steady line of competitions but unfortunately PHS Hilton, the only horse that she took overseas with her, has had an ongoing foot abscess, which is proving to be frustrating. It often happens with the change of environment and seasons - some horses can take a while to adjust but with time and care they will be back to Eventing soon 😊

On this side of the world, Stuart has had his own medical problems and has been suffering a lower back injury - maybe not surprising after so many years of riding as equestrian sport can be very rough on the back! But with good treatment and physio he is now back in action, which is good timing as the events are coming up thick and fast in Australia (see our calendar below).

Last weekend, Stuart was back in the saddle and had a good run at Quirindi CCI, with Fernhill Aisling Star taking third place in the CCI2*-S, Cat Fish taking sixth place in the CCN1*-S and Viennese having a steady run in the CCI3* for 16th place.

New look website coming soon

We are excited that we will have our 'new look' web site very soon!

With a lot of planning and date locked in, it could not have been the worse day for a photo shoot for the new website with CopRice but 'the show must go on' was the mantra for the whole team, despite the fact that It poured with rain!

It was not only raining (eventers are used to that) but the temperature was dropping considerably too during the filming, so all the horses were acting up! Admittedly it was a lot for them with rain, cameras, umbrellas, however we all got the job done. Working with animals can certainly be a challenge and we cannot thank the CopRice team enough for their patience that day.

See you all out Eventing

All the best from Stuart, Karen and Gemma
