New Zealand’s Waitangi Day (February 6th) flew by almost as quickly as Teegan Ashby and Waitangi Password flew around the CCI3*-L at the Australian International 3 Day Event in the above video!
But we can’t let the day, which is an important public holiday in New Zealand, pass without mentioning two Waitangi horses that did particularly well in 2019
The 14-year-old mare Waitangi Password came second in the CCI3*-L in Adelaide with Australia’s Teegan Ashby, fourth at Albury International CCI3*-S and won the NSW State Championship CCI3*-S at Goulburn International
Maddy Crowe and Waitangi Pinterest
Waitangi Pinterest may be a little younger but has already gained great success at her first few 4* starts in 2019. The 12-year-old mare ridden by Maddy Crowe was winner of the CCI4*-L at Taupo, fourth at the Aus3DE CCI4*-S in Adelaide and third at Wallaby Hill CCI4*-L to mention just a few of their very good performances last year
These are definitely two to watch in the Southern Hemisphere in 2020 but keep an eye out for one in the Northern Hemisphere too. Waitangi Amazon, normally ridden by Thailand’s Korntawat Samran, had French hero Maxime Livio in the saddle for a few events last year with good results, including a win in the CCI2*-S at Lignières
