73 days to go to Tokyo2020+1

My private stock of drinks to survive the non-alcoholic State of Emergency

Hello everyone!

We are only 73 days (on 11th May) to go to Tokyo2020+1

The Games are really close now and I cannot understand if I’m more excited or scared for what I will experience during the Olympics and Paralympics!

Unfortunately, Tokyo is still in a State of Emergency with restaurants not serving any alcohol and closing at 8pm until at least the end of May; it is actually kind of weird because, apart from this, everything else is open and running as normal.

We are now very close to the final stages of preparation, with a lot of deadlines to respect and a lot of plans to be delivered.

There are still quite a lot of things to be clarified and finalised related to Covid-19 countermeasures, especially related to testing, but everything will be confirmed in June with the final version of the Playbooks for all the stakeholders; a decision about national spectators will also be made in June.

In the next few weeks we will also get some new team members and this is a huge relief, as the workload is definitely increasing and, as the final things are being installed in both EQP and SFC, we also need to spend some time in the venues; Chris Elliott, who is now in Tokyo, will join the team after his quarantine, so we can maybe plan to write a blog together in June!

I finally made it to Kanazawa, the last place in Japan I wanted to explore, and I really liked it. The city is very quiet, there are some very nice places to see, and I also had the best sushi of my life

The trip was no uneventful as, to get to the station, I firstly took the subway in the wrong direction and then got lost, so I literally hop on the train while the doors were closing, but it was a very nice daytrip and a good occasion to relax away from Tokyo before the madness will begin!

Stay safe everyone!
