This will be a quick blog as I have hotfooted it back from the stadium at Greenwich Park after a great day with Great Britain taking gold in the Team Dressage.
It was just a fantastic atmosphere in the stadium with a very excited crowd as it started to become clear that Britain were likely to take the gold. Popular television commentator Clare Balding interviewed Carl Hester (above) after his test asking if he thought they would win gold and he responded “I probably shouldn’t say this but yes. Yes, I do”. And he was right.
The victory lap had the stands rocking ............. and the horses off their trees. I think that Uthopia and Valegro would now have strained forelimbs; they were GUNNING around the arena! I interviewed Lara B. last year and know how sensitive her horse Alf is to these occasions - Laura very bravely rode him around (they had two people on the ground with him when she dismounted) but opted not to do the second lap of honour!
I’m dashing out for dinner to catch up with Wendy Schaeffer so I’ll just leave you with a few photos from today – more to come in a photo gallery later. As they say, a picture says a thousand words
